The Big Tech Investigation Lab 2025 received 128 powerful and interesting applications from all over Latin America, and we have selected 12 professionals that will participate in our high-level training course on how to better investigate and cover Big Techs, to be held in 8-12 September, in Nosara, Costa Rica.

Cazadores de Fake News – Venezuela / Chile

Adrián González is an engineer, digital researcher, founder and director of Cazadores de Fake News, a Venezuelan NGO founded in Chile in 2019 that focuses on the analysis of disinformation, propaganda, influence operations, and digital threats. González has published investigations on the digital disinformation and propaganda ecosystem in Venezuela, Cuba, and other countries in the region. He has collaborated with Twitter, Meta, and CLIP as well as with the Venezuelan anti-disinformation coalition C-Informa.
Camila Dolabjian
La Nacion – Argentina

Camila Dolabjian is an investigative journalist, lawyer, political scientist, university professor and conflict zone correspondent based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Camila works in LA NACION, national TV (LN+) and radio (Radio Rivadavia). She specialized in corruption, transparency, judiciary and intelligence issues, as well as turmoil and war area coverage. Her travels have included Lebanon, Israel, Palestine, Cyprus, Armenia, Haiti, Myanmar and more. Camila´s investigations have revealed key aspects of drug smuggling in the north of Argentina, the corruption case for which the ex-president, Alberto Fernández is being prosecuted, a multimillionaire scheme of state fraud around election ballots and more.
Diana Baptista
Reuters Foundation – Mexico

Diana Baptista is a Mexican data journalist with 13 years of experience investigating human rights violations in the Americas. Currently, she researches the intersection of tech, climate change and economic justice at the Thomson Reuters Foundation. She also provides trainings for Latin American journalists on digital rights and AI ethics. Previously, Diana collaborated with Reuters, Noticias Telemundo and newspaper REFORMA. As a Fulbright scholar, Diana obtained a Master of Science in Data Journalism at Columbia University.
Emilio Godoy
IPS – Mexico

Based in Mexico, Emilio Godoy is an investigative journalist focused on energy and the environment. Mexican and international media outlets have published his articles on the effects of the climate catastrophe and energy transition, original reporting that has been awarded with journalistic awards and investigative fellowships. In 2022, he received the prestigious Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation Award for coverage of climate change, biodiversity, and water, awarded by the United Nations Correspondents Association (UNCA).
Jennifer Avila
Contracorriente – Honduras

Jennifer Avila is the co-founder and editorial director of Contracorriente, Honduras investigative journalism media organization. She focuses on investigations about corruption, gender-based violence, socio-environmental conflicts, political crises and urban violence. She has participated in more than a dozen transnational investigations. Jennifer won the Journalism for Equality and Against Gender Violence National Award for her coverage about impunity in femicides, the Latin American Association Media Award, the Democracy Award by National Endowment for Democracy and a Special Mention in Maria Moors Cabot Prize. In 2023 she was laurated with the Gabo Foundation Excellence Award for leading young and brave journalism in Honduras. In 2024 she was one of the Latinamerican editors in DW Akademie program “Cambia la historia”, she is also a Ford Global Fellow and a Tallberg Foundation Leader Program fellow.

Jody Garcia is a Guatemalan investigative journalist with thirteen years of experience. Part of the team at Plaza Pública, an independent outlet focused on in-depth journalism. Jody also collaborated for The New York Times.
Laura Scofield
Agência Pública de Jornalismo Investigativo – Brazil

Laura Scofield is an investigative reporter at Agência Pública in Brasília, graduated from the University of São Paulo (USP). Her work has been recognized with awards such as the 2024 Javier Valdez Latin American Award for Investigative Journalism and the 2020 Roche Prize for Health Journalism.
Maria Clara Pestre
Agence France-Presse (AFP) - Brazil

Maria Clara Pestre is a Digital Investigation Editor for the Portuguese service of Agence France-Presse (AFP) and is responsible for the department’s education initiatives in Brazil. Based in Rio de Janeiro, she has a special interest in understanding how technology impacts social behavior, misinformation and the political landscape. Maria Clara holds a bachelor's degree in Journalism from Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) and a postgraduate degree in Digital Communication Strategies from Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV). Previously worked at Reuters and Globo.com.
Miguel Dobrich
Amenaza Roboto - Uruguay

Miguel Dobrich is a journalist and educator based in Montevideo, founder, CEO, and Editor-in-Chief of Amenaza Roboto, a science and technology journalism website that hosts Uruguay’s only data and climate journalism vertical. Miguel is a 2024 National Academies Eric and Wendy Schmidt Awards for Excellence in Science Communications recipient, a 2024 and 2023 Pulitzer Center grantee, and a 2023 Sigma Awards winner. He was a 2018 Tow- Knight Fellow in Entrepreneurial Journalism at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism and is an alumnus of the Oxford Climate Journalism Network at the Reuters Institute.
Miguel Silerio
La Verdad Juárez – Mexico

Miguel Silerio Ortega is a reporter and editor based in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico. He holds a degree in Journalism from the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juárez and specializes in investigating corruption cases, covering human rights issues, and combating disinformation. He was the founder and coordinator of the digital news outlet YoCiudadano for nine years. His journalistic work has been published in both local and national media. He is currently an independent journalist and a contributor to La Verdad Juárez.
Nathália Braga
Portal Catarinas – Brazil

Nathália Braga is an independent journalist and content creator who has worked as a host and reporter for the TV channel MultiRio and The Intercept Brazil. She directed the documentary Childhood in a Box (2025), an investigation into kid influencers, privacy, and irregular advertising. She is fellow of the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma and a member of the Rede de Jornalistas pela Primeira Infância by Fundação Maria Cecilia Souto Vidigal, both initiatives focused on early childhood. Nathália has received national awards such as the Troféu Mulher Imprensa and the Prêmio Sim à Igualdade Racial.
Pedro Teixeira
Folha de S.Paulo – Brazil

Pedro Teixeira is a journalist at the Business section of Folha de S.Paulo, where he has reported for three years on AI, privacy, financial frauds, data centers and telecommunication infrastructure. His coverage about online gambling received the Folha Journalism Award for its didacticism. Previously, he wrote for Globo Rural and Abraji (Brazilian Association of Investigative Journalism).
