News organizations CLIP and Núcleo Jornalismo invite applications for the second edition of the Big Tech Investigation Lab workshop, a prestigious event taking place at Harmony Hotel in Nosara, Costa Rica, from September 8 to 12, 2025.
All travel, accommodation and meal costs from the participants will be covered by the initiative.
Tailored for up to 12 leading journalists from Latin America, this high-level workshop will focus on providing participants with the insights and skills necessary to navigate the rapidly evolving tech landscape. There will be thoughtful discussions on emerging technologies, ethical journalism practices, and strategies for effectively covering tech trends relevant to Latin America.
With an agenda designed to facilitate collaborative learning and engagement, the event will offer in-depth analysis, expert-led discussions, and hands-on training sessions that will empower journalists to better understand and report on the impacts of big tech across the region.
We are especially looking to bring in voices that could help participants think about what they can uncover from their own countries that could be significant both for our region and for the global tech accountability beat.
This in-person format and the serene backdrop of Nosara will allow participants to have a unique opportunity to network with peers, share experiences, and establish professional and personal relationships that transcend borders.
We encourage journalists passionate about staying at the forefront of the tech beat to apply and contribute to shaping a more informed and inclusive digital future.
Applications are now open. The deadline is July 14, 2025.
*Applicants from Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic or Venezuela must have visa to enter Costa Rica (Costa rica, U.S. or Schengen visa).
